While out and about this weekend I picked up a copy of Final Fantasy XII - Revenant Wings to play on the DS (not that I get much time to play games any more, but it got a good review in Neo magazine).
Had a first look at it late last night, and so far it appears to be very good indeed - perhaps the best game of it's type on the DS so far.
It's set in the same part of the Final Fantasy universe as Final Fantasy XII on the PS2 - Rabanastra - with the same cast of characters (at least initially).
The gameplay mechanics are very easy to pick up, with most actions being performed by the stylus, and buttons being almost entirely optional.
Graphics are good - the world is rendered in 3D (some of the best I have seen on the DS) with characters represented as sprites. All dialogue is written on the screen, which does mean you can get away with playing with the sound down. The music will be familiar to anybody who played the PS2 game.
Story wise, I haven't got far enough into it to tell you much - although I can tell you it's set after the events of Final Fantasy XII, with an ancient sky ship arriving in Rabanastra.
Has anybody else got this game yet? What do you think of it?

Don't get me wrong - I never played FF until XII either - it was my first foray into it, and I wrote about it at the time... here's what I wrote.
If you haven't playing a Final Fantasy game and you can tolerate spending over 60 hours on a RPG, I highly recommend them. They have some of the most entertaining storylines and characters. I've always taken the time for these games. Only problem is the next one is for PS3 and I do not own it yet :-(
Thanks for the post Jonathan.
